Liturgical Music Ministry

Liturgical Music Ministry

MusicA Formation Programme in Liturgy and Liturgical Music is being introduced in the Diocese of Killaloe. The Programme is designed for people who already work in music ministry whether as directors of choirs or folk groups, cantors, musicians etc.  Those who lead choirs and folk-groups will find it especially helpful and supportive.

Those who are new to this ministry or those who would like to be involved are also welcome.

The Programme is designed to deliver seven day-long modules on Liturgy and Liturgical Music over a two year period.  Three workshops will be held in 2015/2016 and a further four will take place in 2016/17.  The Programme will run over three Saturdays (November, February, April) for two years.  Each Saturday will begin at 10.00 a.m. and end at 4.00 p.m.   The final workshop will be one of celebration of the learning and looking forward to next steps.   It will involve an overnight stay in the Cistercian Monastery, Roscrea.  A Certificate of Course Completion will be awarded by the National Centre for Liturgy, Maynooth.

Praying for our examination students

Exams 2013We remember in prayer the young people from our parish you are taking the junior or leaving certificate at present. They were remembered at Mass in St Mary’s Church on Saturday, 16 May at 8pm and in St Benedict’s Church, Coolmeen on Sunday 24 May at 9.45am.

A candle will be lit during Mass as a symbol of the prayerful support of the parish community.

Prayer in Preparation for exams.

O God of Wisdom,

I thank you for the knowledge gained and experiences of this time. I come to you on this day and ask you to enlighten my mind and heart.

Let your Holy Spirit be with me as I prepare for these exams, guiding my studies, and giving me insight so that I can perform to the best of my ability.

Please grant me the strength to handle the pressure of these days of exams, the confidence to feel secure in my knowledge, and the ability to keep an appropriate perspective through it all.

Help me to keep in mind what is truly important, even as I focus my time and energy on these exams.

Finally, may I sense your peace in knowing that I applied myself to the challenges of this day.

I ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
