Thomas was born in Ayloe. He played football for Coolmeen and was decorated as a member of the LDF during the Emergency. He emigrated in 1952 when he moved to Birmingham, England

The death has taken place of Fr Tom O’Dea, Ballynacally/Lissycasey on Saturday, 2 January 2016. Fr Tom is a native of Newmarket-on-Fergus and was 82 years old. He studied in St Flannan’s College, Ennis and St Patrick’s College, Carlow. He was ordained for the Diocese of Phoenix, USA.
Fr Tom will repose the Church of Christ the King, Ballycorick on Tuesday, 5 January from 4pm to 8pm. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 6 January at 2pm followed by burial in the Church grounds.
